Not very often you can hear from a Malaysian manufacturer, and here is some news from it. Automaker Proton is working on a multipurpose vehicle which is going to dealerships in April. The auto will be sold locally as well as in Thailand and Indonesia.
MPV has a new platform that was developed by Proton and is going to be used on some other large vehicles. It runs on a 1.6-liter engine that outputs 125 horsepower. The manufacturer equipped the MPV with standard dual air-bags and dual-zone air conditioning which are a big thing in the country.
The name for the auto was picked very carefully. A contest was held in fall, according to the results of which the MPV became Exora (after a red tropical flower ixora). The name was offered by a local teacher who will receive the vehicle as an award.
Exora is going to compete with Nissan Grand Livina and Toyota Afvanza. The price has not been announced but it is not going to exceed $21,900. First orders for the MPV will be takes on February 21.
